Britney Spears Goes Brunette!

We see it all of the time - a transformation after a big breakup.  And it looks like that's exactly what has happened with newly single Britney Spears.  She popped into Elton John's annual Academy Awards viewing party Sunday night wearing a slinky, sparkling black gown and some brand-new brunette hair.

Her stay was brief — she only stayed til about 11 p.m. — but she made quite an impression: According to a source, everyone was buzzing about how great she looked.

This isn't the first time Brit Brit has been a brunette.  She went with darker hair in 2006, 2007 and twice in 2009 - all to mixed reviews.
